Holmen acquires Linghem Sawmill in Sweden from Rörvik Timber

Holmen signed an agreement to acquire Linghem Sawmill in Sweden from its present owner, Rörvik Timber for SEK 48 million (around USD 5.4 million). According to the announcement, the sawmill has a new saw line with capacity to produce 75 000 m3 per year. The deal also includes a planing mill. The company plans to take over the operation April 28, 2017.

Johan Padel, head of Wood Products business area of Holmen, commented:

“The acquisition of Linghem Sawmill forms part of our strategy to make use of a greater proportion of the raw material in the area around our sawmills. It makes us an even better partner in relation to the forest owners.

Linghem’s products supplement Holmen’s current business structure and reinforce the company’s market position in Sweden and the UK.”

Earlier Holmen informed that Daniel Peltonen was appointed as the new head of business area Iggesund Paperboard, effective April 1, 2017.
