Japan is increasing wood pellets and chips imports because of higher biomass power generation

Nikkei Asian Review reported increasing imports of wood chips into Japan because of growing demand of biomass power plants.

According to the announcement, the new regulations of the Japanese government reduces the price for biomass-generated power to JPY 21 (around USD o.19) per kilowatt-hour, effective October, 2017.

The Japanese traders and distributors like Sumitomo, Itochu, Kokusai Pulp & Paper as well as some power providers are securing wood chips and pellets supply channels foreseen growing demand.
