Oji Holdings in developed a Cellulose Nano-Fiber powder dispersible in various types of organic solvent

Oji Holdings Corporation, a leader in the pulp and paper industry of Japan, succeeded in development of Cellulose Nano-Fiber (CNF) powder dispersible in various types of organic solvent. According to the announcement, the company has already commenced sample distribution as of June, 2017.

The development enables the company to disperse CNF in various types of organic solvent which conventional CNF has not achieved. Its dispersion has high transparency and high viscosity, and therefore it can be expected to be applied to paints, inks, and polymer synthesis.

Oji is currently trying to accelerate commercialization of the product in a wider range of business fields and create new markets by commencing distribution of these development samples.

At the beginning of 2017, Oji Holdings  started pilot facility for CNF production. The company announced  installation of a new manufacturing demonstration facility for CNF, which applies a phosphate esterification chemical treatment method at the end of 2015.

Earlier Oji Holdings Corporation decreased operating income by 4.3% amid 0.4% growth of net sales in FY2016.
