Smurfit Kappa started production at its mill in Italia after rebuild

Smurfit Kappa started up its PM3 at Ponte all’Ania mill in Italia after a dryer section rebuild. The modification has completely changed the dryer section layout with the relocation of fabric rolls, improving machine runnability and reducing noise and vibration. According to the announcement, the work was executed by Toscotec.

The technology provider’s scope included an advanced mechanical transmission section in “silent drive” with a new frame on the drive side for the whole machine, the installation of uni-run vacuum rolls in the first drying battery and an automatic air paper threading system in the first two drying sections and on the size press.

In 1Q2017 Smurfit Kappa reported 1% decreased of Pre-exceptional EBITDA amid 6% increase of revenues in 1Q2017 y-o-y.

Ealier Smurfit Kappa appointed Mr. Laurent Sellier and Mr. Saverio Mayer as new Chief Operations Officers in Paper Europe and Corrugated Europe.
