Vapo Oy appointed a new CEO

Vapo Oy, a key player in energy generation in Finland, appointed Vesa Tempakka, as the company’s Chief Executive Officer, effective May 29, 2017.

Vesa Tempakka was the CEO of the logistics company K. Hartwall Oy Ab from 2012 to 2017. He was the Managing Director of De Laval Finland from 2005 to 2008 and, prior to that, he held several different positions at Tetra Pak. Having joined the company as the Sales Director for Tetra Pak Finland in 1993, he went on to become the Director of Tetra Pak’s Carton Division in Canada from 2000 to 2005 and spent 2005–2008 in Italy as the company’s Director of Product Development Strategy and Planning.

Jan Lång, Chairman of the Board of Directors, commented:

“Vapo Oy sought a chief executive who is well-equipped to lead the company to its next stage. Vapo Oy’s operations have been streamlined and clarified over the past six years. Today, the company has a strong customer-oriented energy business. Traditionally a fuel supplier, the company has evolved into a provider of various comprehensive energy solutions and services.

The task facing the new CEO can be summarised in two strategic priorities, namely the continued development of the energy business and the creation of new businesses targeted at the international market.”

Earlier Vapo Oy announced resign of the company’s CEO Mr. Tomi Yli-Kyyny on his own request..
